HEAT TREATMENT

Electrical Resistance

Flexible electrical resistance heating elements are manufactured in a range of sizes to suit a wide array of applications and are connected to either low-voltage (65-volt) or high-voltage (240-volt) power sources. Each low-voltage power source is rated at 50 kva, has a minimum of 6 individually controllable outlets, and can power a maximum of 18 heaters of 2.7 KW. Temperature is controlled via pre-programmable microprocessor-based modules and temperature measurement is made by pre-calibrated digital temperature recorders.

High Velocity Fuel

Cooperheat™ has a range of high-velocity burners fired by either LPG or diesel oil for the onsite heat treatment of large fabrications, pressure vessels, and temporary furnaces. Typical high-velocity fuel applications include caustic or sulfuric liquid storage tanks, reactor vessels, hydro-active vessels, LPG storage spheres, and steel furnaces.

The use of Cooperheat™ high-velocity burners is an effective method of curing and driving out moisture from refractory materials. Working under carefully controlled conditions, we eliminate the risk of damage that can be caused by spalling and thereby extend the life of the refractory.

Refractory Dry Out

Cooperheat™ has extensive experience in the field of refractory dry out and in controlled heating and ventilation for the drying of specialized linings. Our expertise in these areas ensures maximum flexibility and minimum downtime Typical applications for this procedure include:

  • Induction furnace refractory dry out

  • Induction furnace cold start

  • Blast furnace refractory dry out

  • Coal gasification plant refractory dry out

  • Refinery cracker unit refractory dry out

  • Aluminium holding furnace refractory dry out

  • Cement kiln pre-heaters and coolers

  • Incinerator refractory dry out

  • Drying/curing of phenolic and catalysed epoxy linings

Temporary Furnaces

The Furnace is modular of design. These modules can make up any length of Furnace from three (3) meters to twelve (12) meters or more depending on the project scope and client requirements. Furnace/s can be offered on a once off basis for a couple of days or on longer term contracts ranging from 1-12 months

Advantages Temporary Furnaces

Can be erected within a short period of time (1-2 days).

  • Perfect for small to medium projects where, permanent structures is not an option.

  • Can be purpose built to fit abnormal items.

  • When the work is complete simply dismantle and remove from the site.

Furnace Specifications

Can reach temperatures up to 980°C. / Utilizes 6 or more 48kg LPG bottles. / Loading capacity 0.5 meter short of the full length and breadth. / Various bed option depending on project duration. / Furnace can be sub-divided into sections for smaller items, which makes it more cost effective. / Indoor and outdoor applications.

Certificate of compliance can be arranged.
